Grace Chaplain to Pursue Ph.D.

James Joiner (pictured) has resigned as chaplain at Grace College, Winona Lake, Indiana, and will be completing his work this summer. After 3 1/2 years in the chaplain's post at Grace, he will begin doctoral studies this fall in the Ph.D. program at Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Joiner is the recipient of a full doctoral fellowship and will pursue studies in Philosophical and Moral Theology. Calvin has been one of the premier centers for Christian philosophy in the 20th century. It has a rich heritage in the Augustinian tradition of “faith seeking understanding” and has been the home of notable Christian scholars such as Alvin Plantinga, Richard Mouw, and Nicholas Wolterstorff.

Calvin Theological Seminary was founded in 1876 and is currently presided over by Cornelius Plantinga, Charles W. Colson Professor of Systematic Theology.
